So, I installed this cab file, now finally wlm2009 is trying to sign in once again (it signs out my msn installed on os-x) but it stays on the screen where the 2 contacts keep spinning around. The 2 contacts eventually slows down significantly.
I’m running the same wlm 2009 build on win2k8.
Previous to finding this post, I had gone through trying everything Microsoft had suggested.
wlcomm.exe stays at 100%. Any ideas anyone?

I tried all other methods like reinstalling, disabling firewall and everything but this is the only solution to the problem.
@ everyone
if you don’t know what to do? -here are the steps
1. install windowlive mail
2. download this file mention in above- its a .cab file – you extract it using winrar / 7zip->and in that folder you’ll find a file called contacts- run it and once it finished-start your windows live from start menu–WOW it works now!!

I’ve tried the above, and reregistering/downloading msxml3.dll, but still not working. Restarted every time. Still can’t log in and STILL getting error code 80040154. Using WinXP Pro SP3.
How I hate the thoroughly incompetent Microsoft – I’ve wasted so many hours of my life thanks to them.

I have Windows XP SP3 with the latest build (14.0.8089.726) for WLM 2009 and have had increasing difficulties. I am experiencing error code 80040154 after freshly installing the newest download from Microsoft. Previously, I uninstalled all Live applications prior to installing this product. I have tried the following fixes without success:
1) Re-register msxml3.dll
I clicked on the Start menu, selected Run and typed the following:
Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll
The window did popup saying: DllRegisterServer
succeeded in C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is succeeded. But this did not remove the error code.
2) http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/F/4/0F4D43A7-8D47-4312-BC35-EC1F888AC156/en/Contacts-ship-neutral.cab – will *NOT* work because the newest install overrides this older file.
3) Using mand msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C} to uninstall messenger does not work.
I have extensively researched this to find that this is a COM problem, not a registry problem. For those of you reading this and feel lost, don’t buy any registry programs to fix this, it is highly unlikely that this is the cause for the error code.
Please, if you know something more in detail to fix this issue, post it so we can get the word out. Certainly post if you have more insight into what I’ve described so others can learn.
