“One-minute minimum charge” for Starhub local calls

Currently, a StarHub customer would be charged about 8 cents for a 30-second call.

With effect from 1 May 2013, a one-minute minimum charge of 16.05 cents will apply for local voice and 3G video calls. After the first minute, talk time will be billed on a per second basis at 0.2675 cents per second.

SingTel already has a similar billing structure. But after the first minute, customers are charged in blocks of 6 seconds, rounded to the nearest cent on a per-call basis. Excess talk time is charged at 16.05 cents per minute.

M1 is the only telco still charging on a per-second basis, for now, at 0.2675 cents per second for excess talk time.
