Q. How many Members of Parliament (MPs) are there in the current 12th Parliament?
A. There are currently 87 elected MPs, 3 Non-Constituency MPs and 9 Nominated MPs in the 12th Parliament.

Q. How many Parliaments have there been since independence in 1965?
A. The present Parliament is the 12th Parliament since the 1st Parliament commenced after independence on 8 Dec 1965. The “life” of a Parliament is calculated from the date of its first sitting after a General Election. The Constitution of the Republic of Singapore provides for a maximum term of five years. The current 12th Parliament had its first sitting on 10 October 2011 after the General Election held in May 2011.
