If you can see all six images in both rows of the top table, you are either not infected by Conficker, or you may be using a proxy server, in which case you will not be able to use this test to make an accurate determination, since Conficker will be unable to block you from viewing the AV/security sites.

CaseTrust for Education

1. What is a Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow)?
Tuition fees paid by the students to the Private Education Organisations (PEOs) will have to be left in the custody of a third party, in this case the CASE-endorsed banks participating in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) scheme. When specified conditions for its release have been met, the banks will disburse the tuition fees on a regular basis to the PEO. This disbursement will stop if a PEO is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure or fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.

2. How does the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) work?
a. CaseTrust and the providers of the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) (DBS and HSBC) have signed a Master Escrow Agreement (MEA) (for MEA, please download Full Information Kit and refer to Annex B) which sets out the rules governing the operation of all escrow accounts opened by the PEOs with the providers. The PEOs who wish to participate in this escrow scheme will have to sign on to the MEA.

b. When a PEO signs on to the MEA, the bank will arrange to open a Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) for the PEO. The PEO is to ensure that the tuition fees of its students will be paid directly into this account. The tuition fees in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) will be held on trust by that PEO for the benefit of the students.

c. As part of the course application process, the student will have to sign a prescribed form (Student Escrow Confirmation – Schedule 7 of MEA) confirming that he/she agrees to be bound by the terms of the MEA and that both the PEO and the student will abide by the tuition fees payment schedule.

d. Thereafter, prior to payment of the tuition fees, the PEO will have to issue a prescribed form (Payment Voucher – Schedule 6 of MEA) to the student stating the details of the tuition fees to be paid for the particular instalment. This Payment Voucher is to be submitted to the bank along with the student’s tuition fees payment.

e. The bank shall disburse the tuition fees in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) to the PEO in accordance with the payment schedule.

Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) mission, in search for lunar water

If all goes well, on 9 Oct, Friday about 7:30 a.m. EDT (1130 GMT), the two parts of the LCROSS spacecraft will smack into the lunar surface at nearly 6,000 mph, sending up plumes of moon dust — perhaps full of ice — 6.2 miles high above the moon’s Cabeus crater (to see if there’s any water or ice spraying up).

MOE set to welcome Google Apps for Education in November. From November, about 30,000 teachers and staff in the more than 350 public schools here, will be the first in Asia to be equipped across the board with Web 2.0 communication and collaboration tools.

The Ministry of Education (MOE), NCS and Google yesterday announced they were working together on the Google Apps (Education version) suite. This would make MOE the first Ministry here to adopt an open standard cloud computing platform, and the project will lay the ground for future Web 2.0-based applications to boost interaction inside and outside the classroom.

The Google Apps for Education will offer the latest email features with bigger disk-space of 7GB, to encourage greater usage among teachers. It comes bundled with instant messaging, blogs and Wikis to facilitate collaboration within and across schools. The system will also be continuously upgraded without any additional cost to MOE. The contract allows for, say, future system upgrades without the need to revise the whole system infrastructure. NCS chief executive Lim Eng said: “The project will help transform the way educators teach, communicate and collaborate with peers and with students of the Y-Generation who are attuned to new Web applications like social networking sites.”

This is one of the boot error messages in Windows. Check the boot order sequence in the BIOS. Set it to your Harddrive that contains the Windows XP partition instead of a non-bootable floppy disk, CD, USB Hdd or Thumbdrive.

The other possible causes are as follows:

Configuration changes in Boot.ini
New HDD added to the computer and it set as the Primary in the BIOS.
Faulty cable of HDD
File corruption

If it is a file corruption, you can copy back the boot files from the original Windows XP installation CD.

Copy these files back to the root directory, “C:\” of the Windows XP partition

Speeds
There are different speed grades available, measured the same as CD-ROMs, in multiples of 150 kB/s (1x = 150 kB/s). Basic cards transfer data up to six times (6x) the data rate of the standard CD-ROM speed (900 kB/s vs. 150 kB/s). High-speed cards are made with higher data transfer rates like 66x (10 MB/s), and high-end cards have speeds of 200x or higher.

SanDisk classifies their cards as:
    * Ultra II—minimum read speed of 15 MB/s (100x)
    * Extreme III—maximum speed of 30 MB/s (200x)
    * Extreme IV—up to 45 MB/s (300x)

Note that maximum read speed and maximum write speed may be different. Maximum write speed typically is lower than maximum read speed. Some digital cameras require high-speed cards (write speed) to record video smoothly or capture multiple still photographs in rapid succession. This requires a certain sustained speed, or the video stops recording. For recording, a high maximum speed with a low sustained speed is no better than a low speed card. The 2.0 specification defines speeds up to 200x.
