Windows 2000 Server

On July 13, 2010, Extended Support for Windows 2000 Server will end. The product will no longer be publicly supported after this date. Self-Help Online Support will be available for Windows 2000 Server after Extended Support for the operating system ends.

We advise customers who are running Windows 2000 Server to contact their Microsoft Sales Account Manager or Technical Account Manager to discuss migration plans.

Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2

Additionally, on July 13, 2010, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 will transition from the Mainstream Support phase to the Extended Support phase. Extended Support for Windows Server 2003 and for Windows Server 2003 R2 will be available until July 14, 2015.

We provide the following support during the Extended Support phase for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 at a supported service pack level:

• We will continue to provide security updates and paid support.
• Customers will continue to have access to all security updates and Self-Help Online Support options.
• Non-security hotfixes developed in the Extended Support phase are only available to customers who enroll in Extended Hotfix Support (EHS).

Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2008 customers will continue to receive Mainstream Support throughout the operating system’s five-year Mainstream Support phase until July 9, 2013, per the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy.

These support transition dates are in line with the Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy for Business and Developer products.

If you install the vSphere Client in Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 and try to connect to the vSphere server, you see the errors:

- Error parsing the server <servername> clients.xml file.
- The type initializer for VirtualInfrastructure.Utils.HttpWebRequestProxy threw an exception.

The vSphere Client is not currently supported in Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 and it does not run in Compatibility Mode.

5. Type any one of the following values to configure the IPv6 protocol, and then click OK:
   1. Type 0 to enable all IPv6 components.Note The value “0″ is the default setting.

1. Download .Net Cleanup Utility

2. Using the .net Cleanup Utility, uninstall .Net Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0. 3.0 and 3.5 (The cleanup utility won’t allow you to remove .NET Framework 2.0 on Windows Vista and higher because it is installed as an OS component.)

3. Restart the computer

4. Download the following components:

.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (this will also install .Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2)

5. Install the downloaded updates in this order (the order is very important):

    *      .Net Framework 3.5 SP1

6. Restart the computer

7. Go to Windows Update then choose CUSTOM update

8. Under Optional Software Update, check if other versions of .Net Framework is being offered

    *      IF NO: Close the case as Resolved
    *      IF YES: Install the update using Custom Update then dispatch the case to Non-Tech Callback

9. Once the installation is complete reboot your computer and attempt to install updates again.

Note: If Windows Update is offering .Net Framework and other updates, troubleshoot the other update first before dealing with .Net Framework updates.

There are two versions of MSIZAP.EXE:

MsiZapA.exe (for use in Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME)

Conficker (aka Downadup, Kido) is known to block access to over 100 anti-virus and security websites.

If you are blocked from loading the remote images in the first row of the top table above (AV/security sites) but not blocked from loading the remote images in the second row (websites of alternative operating systems) then your Windows PC may be infected by Conficker (or some other malicious software).

If you can see all six images in both rows of the top table, you are either not infected by Conficker, or you may be using a proxy server, in which case you will not be able to use this test to make an accurate determination, since Conficker will be unable to block you from viewing the AV/security sites.

CaseTrust for Education

1. What is a Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow)?
Tuition fees paid by the students to the Private Education Organisations (PEOs) will have to be left in the custody of a third party, in this case the CASE-endorsed banks participating in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) scheme. When specified conditions for its release have been met, the banks will disburse the tuition fees on a regular basis to the PEO. This disbursement will stop if a PEO is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure or fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.

2. How does the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) work?
a. CaseTrust and the providers of the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) (DBS and HSBC) have signed a Master Escrow Agreement (MEA) (for MEA, please download Full Information Kit and refer to Annex B) which sets out the rules governing the operation of all escrow accounts opened by the PEOs with the providers. The PEOs who wish to participate in this escrow scheme will have to sign on to the MEA.

b. When a PEO signs on to the MEA, the bank will arrange to open a Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) for the PEO. The PEO is to ensure that the tuition fees of its students will be paid directly into this account. The tuition fees in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) will be held on trust by that PEO for the benefit of the students.

c. As part of the course application process, the student will have to sign a prescribed form (Student Escrow Confirmation – Schedule 7 of MEA) confirming that he/she agrees to be bound by the terms of the MEA and that both the PEO and the student will abide by the tuition fees payment schedule.

d. Thereafter, prior to payment of the tuition fees, the PEO will have to issue a prescribed form (Payment Voucher – Schedule 6 of MEA) to the student stating the details of the tuition fees to be paid for the particular instalment. This Payment Voucher is to be submitted to the bank along with the student’s tuition fees payment.

e. The bank shall disburse the tuition fees in the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) to the PEO in accordance with the payment schedule.

Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) mission, in search for lunar water

Enhanced VMotion Compatibility (EVC) simplifies VMotion compatibility issues across CPU generations. EVC automatically configures server CPUs with Intel FlexMigration or AMD-V Extended Migration technologies to be compatible with older servers. After EVC is enabled for a cluster in the VirtualCenter inventory, all hosts in that cluster are configured to present identical CPU features and ensure CPU compatibility for VMotion. The features presented by each host are determined by selecting a predefined EVC baseline. VirtualCenter does not permit the addition of hosts that cannot be automatically configured to be compatible with the EVC baseline.

Step 1

On the Google map page, click on “Save to My Maps”. When prompted, login in your google account. Otherwise, create a new account.

Step 3
Now install Google Maps for mobile. Please visit ‘m.google.com/maps‘ from your device’s mobile web browser to download the application to your phone. Once downloaded, the installation process should start automatically.

Tip: Using your device’s pre-installed, default browser to visit ‘m.google.com/maps’ to ensure you receive the correct version of the Google maps for mobile for your own device.

Step 4
Select Google Maps under “Installations” of your mobile phone. Sign in using your username and password if you have not done so. Press the digit “2″ on your phone number pad to go to Layers. Click on “Browse layers”, then “My Maps”. Click on “World Map on AED Locations” under the heading “Created by others”.

Step 5
Finally, to view your current location, press the number “0″. To zoom in, press “3″. To zoom out, press the digit “1″. To toggle between map and satellite images, press the digit “5″.

Note : If after pressing “0″ and you do not see any nearby AED, please press “2″ to go to Layers and refresh the layer by de-clicking “World Map on AED Locations under the heading “Currently on”. Go back to Layers and click on “World Map on AED Locations” under the heading “Recently viewed layers”, then press “0″ again to find your location.

If you still do not see any AED, it means that
a. there is no information provided to us of any AED in your location, or
b. there really is no AED at all. Good luck!

In Singapore, users can access the Singapore Police Force’s HITS (Handphone IMEI Tracing System) website to check if their mobile handset is recorded by the police as stolen device. The free service will check a user’s phone IMEI number against its database, and phone owners who learn through the site that their phones are stolen can then make a police report.

Keying *#06# on a mobile phone will allow users to see the device’s 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity, or IMEI number. But this code isn’t really secret – for most phones, it’s also printed on the inside of the handset underneath the battery or found on the warranty card.
